So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. Heidi and Doug, I remember your dad talking about an Elm Grove recruit, Jim Gordon, from the 70's. It is an example of how hard he worked for his tennis program at UWW. And he always had a good joke to break the ice with. Kurt Anderson

I knew Ron through our the love of tennis. I first came to know him when I was a highschool player. I played high school tennis in Fort Atkinson before moving on to playing for UW-Lacrosse in the 1980's. I managed to stay in touch with him quite a bit over the span of many years. I got to know Ron better by working for the UW-Whitewater warhawk tennis camps for several years. Even though I had never had Ron as a coach I could understand how he brought the best out of his players. He was always there to listen and to give advice. Ron also went out of his way to give me a job recommendation when I went back to graduate school at UW-Whitewater. He was the kind of guy that would give tirelessly of himself. My husband also got to know Ron in his later years by participating in the adult camp. We would enjoy our catch up sessions with Ron doing his usual "stringing" at Clem Hall. He will greatly missed but not forgotten.
My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to his family.
Sincerely,
Lisa (Kent) Ritchie

Coach Wangerin was a fantastic person. He was very good to me during my time with the Fort Atkinson Swim Team and as a student at UW-Whitewater. We actually taught a couple Lifeguarding classes together at Whitewater. My deepest condolences to Doug and Heidi. Who both swam for FAST while I was the coach.

Ron was my tennis coach at Whitewater from 1969 thru 1973. He also coached my daughter, Kaitlin, at the Warsaw summer tennis camp around 1998 to 2000.
He was a great coach and friend ever since! He will be greatly missed but never forgotten!
