Obituary of Dana Erwin Richter

Dana Erwin Richter, age 63, of Whitewater, WI passed the last rally point and came to the end of his watch on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, Wisconsin. Dana was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 6, 1952, the son of Erwin and Veda (Manske) Richter. Dana graduated from Pulaski High School in 1970. Upon graduation, Dana served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years as a Military Policeman with the 3rd Platoon 501st MP Co, 1st Armored DIV (Old Ironsides) stationed in Bamberg, West Germany. Dana continued a life of service graduating from Trooper Recruit School with the Wisconsin State Patrol in August of 1977. Dana patrolled squad #237 out of the District 2 post in Waukesha WI. During his 20 year career, Dana earned several awards for meritorious acts of outstanding service to the citizens of Wisconsin in 1979,1980, and 1982. Dana was an active member of St. Johns Lodge No. 0057 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Whitewater WI, and the Tripoli Shrine Temple in Milwaukee, WI. Dana was a member of the Tripoli Motor Corps driving little cars and scooters in several area community parades. Dana served the Shrine as a Aide, Chief Aide, and Aide Emeritus. Dana loved boating, fishing, the Packers, and his big dog St. Bernards. Dana is survived by his wife Kim Richter (Hagstrom), Whitewater WI, Son: Alan (Kristin) Richter, Fort Atkinson, WI, Daughter: Jessica (Mark) Pokorny, Johnson Creek, WI, Step-Son: Ryan Diderrich, Burlington, WI, and Grandchildren: Evan and Lana Pokorny and Zoey and Ava Richter. Dana was preceded in death by his parents and will forever be greatly loved and missed. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater, WI with Rev. Steven Hanson officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater with a Masonic Service to begin at 6:30PM and from 10AM on Tuesday at the funeral home until the time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. John's Masonic Lodge or the Tripoli Temple.
