Debbie and I were so both extremely sadden when we learned about Dana's passing. It is so hard to come to grips with and understand. Such a wonderful lovable guy.
Our memories of Dana and Kim sitting across from us at the dinner some of us went to at the San Antonio Tower of the Americas, will be how I will chose to remember him. How we both wish we could be at his service, but family illnesses in my family keeps us from going. Love all My Bamberg MP Brothers, Dana was one of the Special Ones.

This was sad news to learn about the death of a great man, a great American, a great soldier and a great Military Policeman. Dana Richter was a soldier's soldier. He was admired, respected and loved by his fellow soldiers. Always there to be counted on no matter what the situation. I know that he carried these traits forward after the Army and onto the Wisconsin State Police force as well as in his community and especially his family. He was a brother to all those that knew him. I admired Dana for many reasons. Regrettably, he was not in my MP Company. He served as an MP in another unit but in the Bamberg community. I always wanted to get him transferred to my company. Any commander would have been proud to serve with him. He will be missed greatly.
My thoughts, prayers and sorrow are offered to Kim and the family. Dana was a good friend and one of the best soldiers that I ever served with in my 30 years in the Army.

Dana Ricter: I can see the greeting with Saith Peter at the pearly gates. Before Saint Peter can say a word, Dana with his arms stretched open, in his loud boisterously way says: " Hey Saint Peter I'm here, now give me a hug"! Then Dana about squeezes the holy c*** out of Saint Peter! Once Dana lets him down Saint Peter says to Dana; "Welcome my good and faithful serveant!
I was my pleasure to know and work with Dana as an MP in Bamberg Germany? He was an Intercal part of the brotherhood of the Bamberg military police, and he will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.

Dana was a first class officer, I worked with Dana in the 1970's in dist 2, state patrol, this was affectionaly know by the D2 troopers as Disneyland East. We all worked hard. ..I was working the mid night shift when Dana called in a bombing at the Racine scale, he had stopped at the scale for a 'pit' stop and a drunk drive came up the scale road behind the guard rail and drove into the building and knocked the building off the foundation, and semi demolished it. Dana called it in that he got 'Bombed'.
I took Dana to the hospital because he may have been in shock...he was okay although shaken up. We had many great laughs and cheap shot off of that fiasco. What a first class guy. The kind of man you, remember as a first class friend. I a, very sorry for your loss. Al Lohman X228,
