Obituary of Peter von Allmen

Pete von Allmen, age 65, of Fort Atkinson died at his home on Friday, September 25, 2009. He was born September 22, 1944, the son of Hans and Susanna (Pfister) von Allmen in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. Pete immigrated with his family in December of 1948, and settled in Monroe, WI. After graduation from Monroe High School in 1962 he earned his degree in Education from UW-LaCrosse in 1966. Pete taught in Medford and Stevens Point before coming to Hartland Arrowhead in 1976 where he taught until his retirement in 2000. He continued his studies at UW-Whitewater earning a Masters in Education Administration in 1990. Pete was the girl�s varsity head coach at Hartland Arrowhead High School from 1976-1993, and also at Fort Atkinson High School from 1993-2002. He and his teams won 2 Division I state tournaments. He was assistant women�s basketball coach at Beloit College for 2 years, and also for the last 5 years at UW-Whitewater. In October of 2004 he was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a great sports fan with a personal passion for basketball and golf. He is survived by: Sister: Therese Belden of Woodburn, Oregon and her 4 children: Heidi �Gary� Vachter of St. Paul, Oregon, Bonnie Ott of Beaverton, Oregon, Roy Ott of Durham, North Carolina, and David Belden of Oregon Brother: Hans �Jill� von Allmen of Janesville and their daughter: Erika �Nathan� Chow of Dousman, WI Pete is also survived by other relatives and friends. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 4-8 PM at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 1008 Madison Avenue, Fort Atkinson. A private family burial will be held.
