Obituary of Alan Gene Grant

Alan Gene GRANT, age 68, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, October 23, 2011, at his home. Alan was born in Berlin, Wisconsin on March 20, 1943, the son of Alvin and Joy R. (Jenks) Grant. He graduated from Goodrich Senior High School in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1960 and from Oshkosh State University in 1965. On September 12, 1992, Alan married Barbara C.Jessie in St. Paul, Minnesota. Alan taught speech in Oostberg, Wisconsin. He then worked at Gilson Brothers in Plymouth, Wisconsin for many years and later worked as a postman and courier in Minneapolis. Alan was a collector of pocket knives and a prodigious reader. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, playing cribbage, writing poems, and played the accordian well. Surviving are: Wife: Barbara Grant, Fort Atkinson, WI, Children from previous marriages: Cris Grant, Dallas, TX, Shannon Grant, Belgium, WI, Shane Grant, New Lisbon, WI, Holly Lemke, Fond du Lac, WI, and Amanda Peachy, Fond du Lac, WI, He was Grandfather to 4 and Grandpa to many, He is further survived by Sisters: Susan Clark, Palestine, IL, Kerry Pierotti, Neshkoro, WI, and Dawn Grant, Fond du Lac, WI, Brothers: Larry Grant, Mishawaka, IN, Patric Grant, Milwaukee, WI, and Shawn Grant, Eden, WI. Alan was preceded in death by his parents Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the local food shelf.
