Obituary of Gordon E. Simonson

Gordon E. SIMONSON, age 104, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Fairhaven in Whitewater, WI. Gordon was born in Whitewater, Wisconsin on November 12, 1906, the son of Morris and Anna (Steinke) Simonson. He attended Whitewater Normal High School. In 1940, he started the Simonson Oil Company in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin which he owned and operated until his retirement. He married Elizabeth Hedrick on August 31, 1930 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, she preceded him in death on February 9, 1989. He married Doris Gartman on October 6, 1990 in Madison, WI. Gordon was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson and the Father Alfred Endres Council #3396 Knights of Columbus, the Koshkonong Mounds Country Club and the Fort Atkinson Lions Club. Surviving are: Wife: Doris Simonson, Fort Atkinson, WI, Children: Susan (Kenneth) Reagles, Syracuse, NY, and Richard G. (Flo) Simonson, Fort Atkinson, WI, Grandchildren: Scott Simonson, Brad (Michele) Simonson, Alyssa (Brian) Haukom, and Jennifer Felton, and 5 Great-Grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Friday, November 4, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, WI. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, WI. Friends may call after 10AM on Friday at the church until Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson or to Fairhaven, Whitewater. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson is assisting the family
