Obituary of Lou Lloyd Pitt

Lou Lloyd Pitt, Jr. Lou was born on April 28, 1946 in Waukesha to Lou and Iona (Barton) Pitt and passed away on November 8, 2011 following a courageous fight against lung cancer. He grew up in the Whitewater area and graduated from Whitewater High School in 1965. He attended UW-Whitewater. He had four children, Christina (Tom) Zych in Williston, VT; Jennifer (deceased); Lou (Toni) Pitt in Fort Atkinson; and Amy Pitt in Oak Lawn, IL. His grandchildren are Tommy Zych, Matthew Zych and Hailey Pitt. Lou moved to Fort Atkinson in 1976. He has owned and operated LP Aluminum, now known as LP Home Remodeling since 1968. He is probably best known for officiating football, basketball, softball and baseball. Lou began officiating shortly after high school and continued to officiate these sports at the high school and college level until 2010. He officiated women�s basketball in the Big Ten, Big Eight, and Missouri Valley, along with several other Division 1, 2, and 3 college conferences around the country, plus the WIAC, CCIW, Midwest and NAC conferences in Wisconsin. In 1991, Lou was given the honor of officiating the NCAA Women�s Basketball Division 1 Championship Game. He also officiated many state championship games over the years. His high school football crew has done the Wisconsin Division 1 State Football Championship Game 4 times, most recently in 2008. His love of the game and people always showed on the field, diamond or court. He was predeceased by his daughter, his parents, and a sister, Leona �Rene� Belt. He is survived by his three children; grandchildren; wife, Chick Lillis in Madison; brothers, Rusty (Bonnie) in Whitewater and Larry (Mary)Palmer in Salt Lake City, UT and sister Lucille (Mike) Tueller in Milwaukee; step-father, Russell Papcke and step-sister Krystal Sawyer both from Whitewater. He is further survived and fondly remembered by literally thousands of friends that he has made over the years from work and officiating. Services will be held at Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson on Monday, November 14th at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held at the Nitardy Funeral Home on Sunday, November 13th from 3-7PM and on Monday from 10AM until the time of the service. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lou Pitt Memorial Fund.
