Obituary of Joseph Anton Obmascher

Joseph Anton Obmascher, age 68, of Whitewater, WI passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the University Hospital & Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. Joseph was born in LaCrosse, WI, the son of Anton and Beatrice (Dees) Obmascher. Joe graduated from LaCrosse Central High School and from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse with a teaching degree. He taught for 3 years at Richland Center High School prior to moving to Whitewater. From 1969 until 2010, Joe taught Psychology and Sociology at Whitewater High School. On August 10, 1968, Joe married Jeanne Byrd in Richland Center, Wisconsin. Joseph was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater. He served as advisor to the Strategy and Tactics Club at Whitewater High School. Joe loved history and visited many battlefields. He is survived by his wife: Jeanne Obmascher, Whitewater, WI, his daughter: Jennifer (Brad Huelsman) Emond, Waunakee, WI, grandchildren: Marcel and Blaise Emond and nieces and a nephew. Joe was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 27, 2012, at 11:00 AM at the First English Lutheran Church, Whitewater,WI with Rev. Steven Hanson officiating. Friends may call from 4-7PM on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater, Wisconsin and after 10AM on Friday at the church until the services. In lieu of flowers: memorial may be given to the First English Lutheran Church, or to the Phantom Lake YMCA Camp.
