Obituary of Dick Chayka

Richard T. “Dick” Chayka, 92, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Reena Senior Living in Fort Atkinson.

Dick was born in Passaic, New Jersey on August 28, 1931, son of Anthony Chayka and Theresa (Protzo) Chayka. Richard was baptized Russian Orthodox and Catholic.  He served in the United States Army and received the National Defense service medal during the Korean war.  For 16 years, Richard worked for Spacesaver Corporation and owned Dick and Alma’s Token Creek Tavern in Token Creek, Wisconsin.

His hobbies include playing golf, making golf clubs, and creating leather embroidery on belts and purses. Dick enjoyed playing, singing, and recording his songs on the keyboard. He was a resident in Wisconsin for over 50 years.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Joan (Ralph) Spitale of West Bloomfield, MI; brother, Roy Chayka of Montville, NJ; daughter-in-law, Nancy Chayka of Milford, PA; four grandchildren, Kristina (Brandon) Rudolph, Alison Chayka, Daniel Chayka, Emily Chayka; one great-grandchild, Jaxon Chayka; and close friends, Mark and Karen Haubenschild of Fort Atkinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Theresa Chayka; brother, Robert Chayka; wives, Mary and Alma; son, Alan Chayka; and granddaughter, Julia Spitale.

The family would like to give special thanks to Reena Senior Living staff for their exceptional care for Dick.

A graveside service will take place at 1PM on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Middleton Junction Cemetery in Middleton, Wisconsin.
