Obituary of Janice L. Kohls

Janice LaVon Kohls, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on October 11^th, 2022 at the age of 87.

Janice was born on March 2^nd, 1935 in Prairie du Chien to Leonard and Esther (Braun) Shulka. She spent her early years there, graduating high school and eventually marrying William Kohls on December 22^nd, 1957.

She was highly educated, earning her bachelor’s degree from UW-Platteville and her master’s degree from UW-Madison. She went on to become a well-known teacher at Fort Atkinson High School. Apart from teaching, Janice was a member of many esteemed organizations, including the National Education Association, the Wisconsin Education Association Council, the American Association of University Women, and the Federal Education Association. She was also the Executive Director of the Kettle Moraine Press Association, of which she was a member for 15 years. She was a bright, giving soul that will be missed.

Janice is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Tom and Shari Davis of Iowa city, Iowa; she is further survived by five nephews, their wives, and their children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Esther, and her husband, William.
