Greetings,
I was a student of Mr. Schumacher's for sixth grade, my most wonderful year of elementary school. Mr. S was a gentle, supportive, creative teacher and touched my heart in a unique way. During my last year at Hi-Mount Elementary School, I looked forward to each day because of him.
A few years ago, when I was doing a guided meditation, the instructor asked us to think of someone who was a treasured mentor. A picture of Mr. S immediately sprung up in my mind. I pictured him, wearing a bow tie and his cream-colored loafers, looking handsome with his wide, 1958 smile.
He was just a lovely man, and he lives on in my precious memories. May you find comfort in yours.

Dear Mabel:
My name is Kim Olson and my then-boyfriend Paul and I spent many happy hours at your house in 1989-1991; Paul and Vern were usually working on some project Vern had hired him to complete. I'll always remember how we connected over our shared love of kitties (I had four, and you had Boo-Boo Kitty (?) plus your dog Tammy, if I recall right). I just heard about Vern's passing via Whitewater's alum magazine (I'd been a student of his, class of '86). My condolences. He was a wonderful man.
Regards,
Kim Olson

Dear Mabel,
I just heard the news about Vern and wanted to express my deepest heartfelt sympathies. Perry, Hillary, Sharon and P.J. (and Terri), are "family." I am Sharon and PJ's Goddaughter, and have been to Perry's Ft. Atkinson home many times. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting you or Vern, but know that the Tinsley's consider you family, as well. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Vern sounds like a lovely, compassionate man. May you have peace at this difficult time.
Blessings,
Daphne and Chris Roy
