Obituary of Leona Louise Jackson

Leona Louise Jackson, age 91, of Fort Atkinson passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Alden Estates in Jefferson, Wisconsin.   Leona was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 25, 1921, the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth "Elsie" (�Albers) Lowe. She graduated from Providence High School Salutatorian in 1939. English was Mom's forte and she was forever correcting her sons in the proper use of language. On May 15, 1943, Leona married Victor Leroy Jackson. After 65 years of marriage, Victor preceded her in death on September 3, 2008. Leona and Victor lived their entire lives in two cities. They moved to Fort Atkinson in 1969 when Victor took a job with Nasco. They both missed their birth city but after 50 years in Chicago, they were very happy living in the countryside of Wisconsin. Leona loved children and cherished raising eight of her own. She prided herself on being an accomplished cook and knitter and enjoyed her many bridge clubs. Leona had a strong faith and was very active in the Catholic parishes she belonged to throughout her life. Surviving are her eight sons: James Lee of Oak Park, IL, Thomas Victor (Brenda Lee Love) of Sun Prairie, WI, John Alan (Kathy) of Prospect Heights, IL, Robert Louis, William Joseph, and Philip Anthony (Carmen Faymonville) all of Madison, WI, Gerard Edwin and Charles Ernest (Claire) both of Fort Atkinson, WI, 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert and a granddaughter Megan Lee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30PM on Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jefferson, WI with Father Thomas Coyle celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, WI. Friends may call after 2PM on Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Church until Mass time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mom's Alma Mater in Chicago or one of the two local schools she supported in Jefferson and Fort Atkinson: Providence St Mel School, 119 S Central Park Blvd, Chicago, IL 60624 St Joseph School, 1660 Endl Blvd, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538 St John the Baptist School, 333 E Church, Jefferson, WI 53549 The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
