Obituary of Donald Eugene Hommen

Donald "Bud" E. Hommen, age 83, of Cambridge, WI, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Oregon Manor Nursing Home in Oregon, WI. Donald was born on July 7, 1929 in Madison, Wisconsin the son of Charles and Thora (Osterlie) Hommen. Bud was confirmed at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church, rural Deerfield, WI. He went to Medina School, rural Marshall, through 8th grade and attended Deerfield High School thru his sophomore year to help his family on the farm. Bud was united in marriage with Betty Jane Zweifel, on October 15, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. Together they farmed, and raised tobacco. Bud retired from Dorsey Trailers in Edgerton and worked for Jon Lancaster Chevrolet for 8 years. Bud stripped tobacco for the Lund Brothers in Utica until he was 80 years old. Bud is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Hommen, his daughters, Linda (Arvid) Mathison, Cambridge, WI and Vicki Hommen, Gray, IA, his grandchildren,Todd Mathison, Madison, WI, Jill Mathison, Cottage Grove, WI, Sara (Jim) Stanfield, Boone, IA, and Craig (Shuri, fianc�) Chitty, Gray, IA, great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kevin Nett, Franklin and Chaslyn Stanfield, Camren and Gabriel Chitty: Brothers-in-law, Robert Oien, Sun Prairie, WI, Rod Courtier, Walter Zweifel Jr., and Kent Libby, all of Evansville, WI; Sisters-in-Law, Ferne Frederickson, Las Vegas, NV, Veryl Pernot, Stoughton, WI and Mary Libby, Evansville, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Jane Hommen, a sister, June Oien; brothers-in-law, Arlo Frederickson, and Norman Zweifel, and a sister-in-law, Ann Courtier.. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11:30AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Skogen Road, Cambridge, WI with Pastor Dan Dibbert officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30AM on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the church. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Private interment will be at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Cemetery, rural Deerfield, WI. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI is assisting the family.
