Obituary of Mary Maxine Wilkens

Sunday, May 26, 2013 is the day the Lord has made and this is the day Mary Maxine Wilkens' Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called her home to Himself. Her life began in Branch County, Michigan on September 22, 1926 the daughter of Roy and Loa (Baker) Schaeffer. She married Bert Wilkens July 21, 1946 and after almost 52 years the Lord called Bert home. She retired from the State Home after 30 years of service, but only because of Bert's declining health. She continued to live on the Red Oak Road farm until health issues necessitated a move to Wisconsin. She was a member and treasurer of the East Gilead Missionary Alliance Church for many years. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Richard (Jean) Clarke, of Janesville, Wisconsin, a granddaughter Mrs. Joel (Dawn Briggs) Polster, three great grandchildren, Thomas Briggs, and Connor and Ashley Polster of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, great nephews: David Noblit of Bronson, MI and Dan Noblit of Orland, IN and great niece Mary Coak of Hamilton, IN and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Loa (Baker) Schaeffer, a sister Mrs. Dewitt (Gertrude) Church, a brother John Schaeffer, her very special niece Ms. Bessie Church, son-in-law Thomas Briggs Sr., and brothers-in-law; Richard and Robert Sherman. Memorial Services will be held at 10AM on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the East Gilead Missionary Alliance Church in East Gilead, Michigan with a luncheon to follow in the church hall. Interment will be in the Knauss Cemetery, Kinderhook Township, Michigan. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin assisted the family.
