Obituary of Cyril W. Schmidt

Cyril "Squirrley" W. SCHMIDT, age 86, of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, June 01, 2013 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Cyril was born in Phlox, Wisconsin on April 12, 1927, the son of George and Anna (Debroux) Schmidt. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On December 26, 1951, Cyril married Delores Meidl in Phlox, Wisconsin. Delores preceded him in death on February 10, 2008. Cyril was a farmer all his life. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, and was an avid outdoorsman. Cyril was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Mills, Wisconsin and the Lake Mills American Legion. Surviving are: Children: Daniel Schmidt, Lake Mills, Gary (Chris) Schmidt, Jefferson, Ron (Claudia) Schmidt, Lake Mills, Cheryl (Larry) Von Rueden, Cambridge, Brian (Kathy) Schmidt, Jefferson, Julie Schmidt, Fort Atkinson, Steve (Kay) Schmidt, Lake Mills, and Michelle Schmidt, Cottage Grove. Eleven grandchildren, and Seventeen great-grandchildren, Brother Donald Schmidt, Phlox. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. Cyril was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Crystal Von Rueden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 11:00AM at St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Mills, WI. with Father David Wanish celebrating. Friends may call from 5-7PM on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, WI. with the Parish Rosary at 7PM and after 10AM on Friday at the church until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the Rock Lake Cemetery, Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI.
