Obituary of Beverly Ann Ferguson

Beverly Ferguson September 19, 1929 - July 25, 2013 Beverly Ann (Acklam) Ferguson, was born in Racine on September 19, 1929 to Roy and Florence (Westerfield) Acklam. She had one sister, Mary Johnson. Beverly married Neil Ferguson in 1950. They had four daughters. Their first daughter, Lynn Dee, was born and died within a few weeks while Neil was serving in Korea. Her surviving three daughters are Pamela (Bob) Ellingson of Lakewood, Leslie (Curtis) Wycklendt of Glendale, and Valerie (Marc) Blazich of Wauwatosa. She also had an AFS daughter, Gloria Concha (Leonardo) Diez of Santiago, Chile. She had six grandchildren: Marnie (Ellingson) Kleman, Laura Ellingson, Andrew Wycklendt, Sheila (Wycklendt) Piotrowski, and Makenzie and Aaron Blazich. Beverly was preceded in death by Neil, her daughter Lynn Dee and her sister, Mary. Beverly graduated from Racine Park High School and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She taught in Whitewater and Brodhead for several years and at Marshall Junior High School, Janesville, from 1959 -1985. After retiring she managed apartments and was involved with real estate. She was very active with many organizations: Church Women United, Wisconsin Council of Churches, Retired Teachers Association, Badger Women's Curling Association, and American Association for University Women. She enjoyed teaching others about biblical and other historical characters through dramatic presentations. In 2002 she was honored with the YWCA Women of Distinction. A very special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Janet Fechter and all of the nurses and staff at Hearthstone (Fairhaven) for their thoughtful and tender care of our dear Mother. Memorial gifts of time, talent or money can be made to the organization of your choice. A Celebration of Bev's Life will be held Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 130 S. Church Street, Whitewater, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 followed by a service at 11:00 with Rev. Kendall Nordstrom officiating.� There is handicap access in rear of the church off of Franklin Street. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater, WI assisted the family.
