Obituary of Edith Logan Jones

Edith Logan Jones of Fort Atkinson died of complications from cancer on August 11, 2013 at the Rainbow Hospice in Johnson's Creek. Born on July 24, 1930 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Arthur Herman and Edith Logan Herman, Edith attended high school in Bronxville NY, did her undergraduate degree at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, and received a Master�s Degree in Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University. Prior to her marriage in 1960 to William B. Jones of Fort Atkinson, Edith worked as Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She and William Jones moved to Fort Atkinson in 1974. Edith traveled widely, was an avid reader, a sophisticated cook, and member of Tuesday Club. She was also an enthusiastic volunteer at the Elvehjem Museum of Art in Madison, and served on the boards of both the Society for the Preservation of Greek Heritage and the American Farm School in Thessaloniki, Greece. She and William Jones returned to New York in 1996, and divorced in 1998. In New York she was an active member of the Cosmopolitan Club. Edith returned to live in Fort Atkinson in April, 2012. She is survived by her sister, Frances Jackson of Columbia, SC, her daughter Elizabeth, her son-in-law, Thaddeus Sunseri, her daughter Frances, her son Milo, his wife Ewa Moncure and daughter Emily, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital, Rainbow Hospice of Johnson's Creek, or the Jefferson County Humane Society. Graveside Services will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Lakeview Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, WI with Father Charles Payson officiating. Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.
