Obituary of Roger William Humphrey

Roger William Humphrey, age 85, �of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away due to a short pulmonary disease on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI . He was born in Zenda, WI on July 5, 1928 to James T. and Ethel J. (Voth) Humphrey. He grew up in the Lake Geneva area and graduated from Lake Geneva Badger High School. His father was the janitor at the Williams Bay School on Geneva Lake. It was at that school where he was introduced to the new Home Economics and Science teacher, Joyce Mardell Geigel of Monroe, Wisconsin, who became his beloved wife of 63 years. They were married on June 17, 1950 in Monroe, WI. Roger was a salesman by trade, and was widely recognized for the volunteer work he was involved in throughout the community. Roger was a long time member of the Jefferson Masonic Lodge #9, a member of the Sahara Shrine Club, and belonged to the Royal Order of Jesters. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson. Surviving are his wife, Joyce M. Humphrey, 3 sons: Earl T. (Mary) Humphrey, of Delavan; R. Timothy Humphrey, of Fort Atkinson; Randall S. (Pam) Humphrey, of Houston, TX; daughter: Mary Sue (Brian) Friesenhahn, of Dallas, TX; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Gary Humphrey, Bud Humphrey; 2 sisters: Patricia Spiegelhoff, and Ruth Hadinger, and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October16, 2013 at 1:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church, Fort Atkinson with Pastor Russell Frees Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 4-8pm with Masonic Service at 7:30pm., and also on Wednesday from 1pm until the time of service at the church.
