Obituary of Shirley Anne Helming

Shirley Ann Helming, age 81, of Whitewater, Wisconsin, formerly a resident of Fairhaven Senior Living, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Hearthstone Memory Care, Whitewater, WI. Shirley was born on December 29, 1931 in Sheboygan, WI to Oscar and Rose (Fistler) Stichert. She graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1950. Shirley married Roger Helming on June 6, 1953. They lived in Whitewater while Roger finished his studies at UW-Whitewater. Shirley followed her teacher husband to Stockbridge, WI, Monroe, WI, Sheboygan, WI and back to Whitewater. She worked for over 20 years for UW-Whitewater in the Budget and Planning Department as a program assistant. She retired in January, 1991. Shirley was always very involved with the churches in the cities her husband taught, helping with committees, teaching Sunday school and playing piano. She was a member of the Congregational Church United Church of Christ, Whitewater, WI. She is survived by her husband, Roger, Children; Hope (Chuck) Lindholm, Whitewater, WI., Hal Helming, Whitewater, David Helming, McFarland, WI., Heidi (Dan) Jaworski, Waterford, WI, Grandchildren; Jacob, Joshua, Michael and Kathlin Helming. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Cremation Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 1PM at the Congregational Church United Church of Christ, Whitewater, WI with Rev Phil Milam and Rev. Kendall Nordstrom officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Immanuel Church Cemetery, Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Friends may call at the church on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 11AM until the time of the service.
