Obituary of Lawrence G. Buchholtz

Lawrence G Buchholtz, age 96, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Alden Estates of Jefferson, Wisconsin. Larry was born in Edgerton, Wisconsin on January 18, 1917, the son of Frank and Laura (Yahnke) Buchholtz. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1935. Larry served in the US Coast Guard from 1942 until 1945 seeing duty with the K9 Corps. On June 22, 1940, Larry married Carrie Kriedeman. After almost 70 years of marriage, Carrie preceded him in death on March 17, 2010. Larry had traveled all of the 50 states. Larry was a member of the Watertown American Legion Post. #189. He enjoyed collecting carriages, was a member of the Jefferson Collectable Car Club, and a charter member of the Rolling Rims Buggy Club. He enjoyed working with horses and lot of other animals. Surviving are: Daughter: Judith (Norbert) Behling, Jefferson, WI and Granddaughter: Stephanie (Paul) Degneau, Watertown, WI. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings: Agnes (Fernie) Smith, Clifford (Marge) Buchholtz, and Arnold Buchholtz. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 314 Barrie Street, Fort Atkinson, WI. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 9AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the church until the time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson or to the Jefferson County Humane Society.
