Obituary of David Kenneth Adams

David K Adams of Janesville, Wisconsin, age 85, passed away on November 23, 2013 at home. He was born March 12, 1928 at De Sota, Wisconsin. He was the only child of Kenneth and Fae Adams. He was raised on their farm in the De Sota, Redmound area. Dave graduated from the Viroqua high school and then from the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture in 1950. Dave married Shirley J. Fortney in 1949 at her family home in Viroqua, Wisconsin. After graduation, they farmed on the family farm at Redmound, Wisconsin. In 1953 he was hired by Oscar Meyer as a livestock buyer in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. In1964 he was hired by Jones Dairy Farm spending most of the time in grade and yield and hog evaluation. Dave retired from Jones Dairy Farm in 1986. Above all else, family was very important to Dave and he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 64 years and four children; his son, John (Maureen) Adams, Waterloo, WI , and three daughters: Debra (Jeff) Punzel, Janesville, WI; Susan (Doug) Reinke, Janesville, WI; and Barbara (Kurt) Oettel, LaCrosse, WI. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Dave was preceded in death by both his parents. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov.26, at 10:00 AM at First Lutheran Church Chapel, 612 N. Randall Ave., Janesville, Wis. A private graveside service for the family will follow. Friends may call after 9:00 AM prior to the memorial service. Dave and his family very much appreciated the caring help and support of Agrace Hospice. Special thanks to Amy and Angie.
