Obituary of Judy A. VanderMause

Judy A. VanderMause (DeLoye), age 72, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at UW Hospital Madison after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side. Judy was born in Rhinelander, Wisconsin on May 1, 1941, the daughter of the late Bernard and Geraldine (Telfer) DeLoye. She graduated from Rhinelander Union High School in 1959 and the Business Institute of Milwaukee in 1960. On September 1, 1962, Judy married Gary VanderMause at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rhinelander, WI. She was employed as a secretary with Briggs & Stratton Corporation in Milwaukee. In 1970 the couple moved their family to Fort Atkinson. She devoted her time to raising their four children. Starting in 1988, she worked several years for Rural Insurance of Fort Atkinson. Judy's pride and joy was truly her family. She loved supporting and encouraging them in all their many activities. She enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends who she greatly cherished. She also loved spending time reading, cooking, gardening, traveling, and following the local sports teams. She spent countless hours volunteering throughout the community. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic parish. Judy loved spending time at their cottage with family and friends. Judy is survived by daughters, Karen (Mark) Nelson of Fort Atkinson and Julie (Jason) Sass of Verona and sons, Ron (Carla) VanderMause of Neenah and Mark (Lisa) VanderMause of Verona, WI. Judy loved her 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Kelly) Nelson and Danielle Nelson, Lauren, Nathan, and Taylor VanderMause, Ian, Dayne, and Mia VanderMause, Riley, Brayden, and Ashley Sass, and great-granddaughter, Olivia Nelson. She is further survived by sister Dianna (Milo) Evans of Grover, MO, and brother Pete (Carol) DeLoye of Eagle River, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Gary VanderMause, parents, grandparents, brother-in-law James VanderMause, and sister-in-law, Mary VanderMause. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd, Fort Atkinson, WI with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Burial will follow the luncheon. Visitation will begin at 10AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the church until the time of Mass. Judy was a devoted wife and mother. She had a gift of putting others before herself. She touched so many people throughout her lifetime. She approached life with a positive outlook and friendly demeanor. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the UW Carbone Cancer Center, St. Vincent DePaul Society, or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
