Obituary of Dean Ernest Heiman

Dean Ernest Heiman, 94, Fort Atkinson passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at his home. Dean was born on April 10, 1923 in the Town of Jefferson to Ernest and Ida (Buchholtz) Heiman. Dean graduated from Madison Central High School in 1942. Dean served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was part of Patton's army in Germany, France, Belgium and Czechoslovakia. He married Kathryn Brown on August 21, 1949 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson. Dean retired from General Motors in Janesville after 30 years as a millwright. He also drove cab for Brown Cab for 10 years. He enjoyed reading and bowling and taking trips to Ho Chunk. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Atkinson. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kathryn; children, also known as the 4 J's, Jean Heiman, Fort Atkinson, James Heiman, Janesville, Jacqueline (Keith) Gajewski, Palmyra, Julie (Steve) Bauch, Roscoe, Ill; grandchildren, Mandy (Mathew) Sayre, Michael Heiman, Erin Heiman, Abby (Michael) Schwoch, Joshua (Lindsey) Gajewski, Ashley (Stuart) Simpson; great-grandchildren, Emily, Braeden, Jacob, Jenna, Turner, Wilson, Presley. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Goldie Heiman, Frances Hoffland and his brother, Norman. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 301 S. High St., Fort Atkinson, WI with Rev. Matthew Vik and David Ernest officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson with military honors. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of the service. As an expression of sympathy you may wish to consider memorials to Rainbow Hospice. The family would like to thank Rainbow Hospice and especially Angie, Trisha, Jane and Annie for their loving care.
