Obituary of Louise McLane Hunter

Louise McLane Hunter, age 90 of Whitewater died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Rainbow Hospice Center. She was born December 7, 1923 in Sherman, Texas the daughter of William T. and Exa (Whitt) McLane Sr. Louise received her BS degree in voice from North Texas State University and then a Masters from Julliard School of Arts in New York. While singing professionally at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey she met her future husband John R. Hunter. They were married on November 17, 1951 and continued working together. John took a teaching position at a Junior College in Wharton, Texas, and two children were born to the couple. The family moved to Tyler, Texas where John taught at another junior college for several years. After moving their family to Denton, Texas Louise began teaching voice at North Texas State while John pursued his Doctorate. In 1968 they moved to Whitewater, WI where they both taught voice at UW-Whitewater, and Louise also taught private lessons for over 30 years. Amazingly enough she was legally blind from age 15, but travelled the world, played bridge, and enjoyed time on her son�s boat in Florida. She was a true southern lady who loved time with her family and always put the needs of others first. Louise is survived by two children: Margaret (Thomas) Paull of Whitewater and John M. Hunter and Cindi Stage of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida Two grandchildren: Rebecca E. (David) Dorothy of Rocky Mount, NC and David J. (Ashley) Paull of Portage, WI And 7 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in August of 2005, and a brother William T. McLane Jr. Memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson County. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater, WI. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
