Obituary of Lyrl V. Breitkreutz

Lyrl V. Breitkreutz, 89, Prairie du Sac, Waterloo, Oakfield, Johnson Creek Lyrl Breitkreutz, 89, quietly passed away on January 6 at the Maplewood Skilled Nursing Facility in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin due to the effects of advanced dementia. Born December 10, 1924 in Ixonia, Wisconsin to Edgar and Alma (Kieck) Hoeft, Lyrl lived in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin until early adulthood. Lyrl graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1942. She married LeRoy Breitkreutz on April 14, 1946. LeRoy preceded her in death on August 26, 1975. Lyrl worked until age 75 as a bookkeeper and office manager. She was affectionately called the bookie by her daughters although the closest she got to placing bets was losing her daughter Hollys money in the slot machines during a trip to Las Vegas to watch the Badgers play UNLV. She was an avid golfer with a deadly short game, and a Packer and Badger fan having attended the Rose, Copper and Outback Bowls with her daughter Heidi and son-in-law Rick. A person who loved to sing, she lent her strong alto voice to church choirs throughout her life. She encouraged her daughters love of music as well and made doing household chores go more quickly by leading her daughters in singing hymns in three part harmony when they were growing up. Lyrl is survived by her daughters Heidi (Rick) Osgood of Baraboo and Holly Breitkreutz (Steve Ruhland) of Spring Green. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law Janet Hoeft of Johnson Creek and Bette Ward of Fort Atkinson and a number of nieces and nephews. Lyrl was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters-in-law Darrell and Marvel (Jackson) Hoeft, Neale and Joyce (Christians) Hoeft, sister and brother-in-law Jean and Myron Hinzmann, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Vernon and Elma Breitkreutz and brother-in-law John Ward. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13 from 10-11 AM at Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin followed by a memorial service at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the memorial service at the Johnson Creek Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial funds received will go towards research at the Wisconsin Alzheimers Institute at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
