Obituary of Mary Alice Jahnke

Mary Alice Jahnke, age 74, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. Mary was born on February 18, 1939, the daughter of Walter and Viola (Held) Feiter. She grew up in Slinger, Wisconsin and graduated from Slinger High School in 1958. She then went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, graduating in 1962. Mary married Leroy "Lee" Jahnke in Slinger, Wisconsin in 1962. She was a teacher at the Happy Time Nursery School for 17 years and taught kindergarten at St. Joseph Catholic School for 14 years. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Church Choir, the Counsel for Catholic Women serving as treasurer, and served as a library volunteer. She was a member of the Fort Atkinson Women's Club, the Fort Atkinson Lioness Club, and recently the Lions Club from which she received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Mary was a Fort Healthcare Partner Volunteer for many years and was named Outstanding Volunteer in 2003. She enjoyed playing bridge, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are: Husband: Lee Jahnke, Fort Atkinson, WI, Three Children: Steve (Anne) Jahnke, Watertown, WI, Kris (Mark) LeCaptain, Brussels, WI, and David (Sharon) Jahnke, Watertown, WI, Six Grandchildren: Scott, Eric, Nick, Derik, Trey, Ty, and a Brother: Tom (Mary Kay) Feiter, West Bend, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 3, 2014, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd, Fort Atkinson, WI with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Friends may call from 2-5PM on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, WI and after 9:30AM on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the church until the Mass.
