Obituary of Roland Edward Olson

Roland "Ole" Edward Olson, age 101, of Whitewater, WI formerly of Fort Atkinson passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Fairhaven in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Ole was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 17, 1912, the son of John B. and Jessie (Beach) Olson. Ole graduated with a degree from Whitewater State Teachers College in 1942. Ole served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic from Sept 1942 until February 1946. On July 13, 1942, Ole married the love of his life Marjorie "Mudgie" Erickson in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Ole was the Sales Coordinator for James Manufacturing in Fort Atkinson, WI from 1938 until 1961 and was Sales Manager for the Dairy Equipment Company of Madison, WI from 1961 until 1977. Ole was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson, the Paul Frank Florine American Legion Post #166 of Fort Atkinson, and was a member of the Lake Ripley Country Club for 70 years, serving on it's Board of Directors for 12 years. Ole enjoyed golfing, bowling, dogs, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending Summers at their cottage at Long Lake. Surviving are: Wife: Marjorie Olson, Whitewater, WI and Daughter: Kathryn N. (Shane Vondra) Olson, Poynette, WI. Ole was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John Olson. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, WI is assisting the family.
