Obituary of Donald George Karnes

Donald George Karnes, age 94, of Whitewater, WI passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Donald was born in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin on October 31, 1919, the son of Leonard and Mary (Nass) Karnes. He graduated from Whitewater City High School. On June 5, 1948, Donald married Doris Ruppel. Doris preceded him in death on October 16, 2010. Donald worked as a plant supervisor for Moksness Manufacturing prior to his retirement. Donald was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Whitewater, WI. He was a master gardener and carpenter. Donald was a member of the "Greatest Generation". He held especially dear: His Family, His Church, His Country, and His Home. Surviving are: Daughter: Kathryn "Kathy" (Bill) Ewalt, Lewisville, NC, Two Grandchildren: Mary Alice Ewalt, Cary, NC and Robert Ewalt, Minneapolis, MN, Nephews: Robert Karnes, Palmyra, VA and Stephen, Terry, David Mueller, Carbondale, IL, Sister-in-law: Ruth Mueller, Carbondale, IL, Loving Caregivers: Rob and Heather Anderson, and his Canine friend Chloe. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, two brothers; Robert and Walter, and brother-in-law Robert Mueller. Private Family Services will be held at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Whitewater,WI. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, Wisconsin.
