Obituary of William Glenn Jones

William Glenn Jones 80 of Whitewater, WI died peacefully after a period of cancer. Glenn was born in Ashland Missouri to Marvin Harris and Anna Mae Jones in 1933. He grew up in the farming community with his 3 brothers. He obtained a BSME from the University of Missouri and started his career as a Mechanical Engineer with a major consulting company. He obtained a Associate Electrical Engineering Degree from Washington University and attended graduate school at St Louis University and UWM. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in 8 states. He met and married Mary Tincher in 1958 and they had 2 children Cindy and Steve. He served as a Captain in the Army Engineer Reserves. He loved hiking and camping and was the Scout Master of the Boy Scout Troop. At the birth of this son, Steve, he moved into the food and beverage field where he mistakenly thought he would have less travel and overtime work. His family moved several times living in St. Louis, Mo, Waukesha, WI, Grosse Pointe, MI, Atlanta, GA and Whitewater, WI. He is survived by his son Stephen Glenn Jones of Eau Claire, WI and daughter Cynthia (John) Jones Hogan of Grosse Pointe Park, MI and grandchildren, John Hogan Jr, Maurice Hogan, William Hogan, Connor Hogan, Thomas Hogan and Cynthia Mary Hogan all of Grosse Pointe Park, MI. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Ken Jones of Brandon, FL, Don (Lora) Jones of Ashland, MO and Cletes (Bonnie) Jones of Centralia, MO along with many loving nieces and nephews, brother and sister in laws. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Mary Tincher Jones and his parents Marvin Harris and Anna Mae (Angelo) Jones. Memorial Service will be at 11AM at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 133 S. Franklin St in Whitewater Wisconsin on Thursday April 3, 2014. Friends may call on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 9am-11am at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Whitewater, WI. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Whitewater, WI. Luncheon will be immediately following the Memorial Service at Congregational United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorials to the Congregational United Church of Christ. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Whitewater, WI is assisting the family.
