Obituary of George William Jones

George William Jones, 91, of Cambridge, Wisconsin, formerly a longtime resident and business owner of Fort Atkinson passed away Thursday morning, April 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. George was born May 29, 1922 in Johnstown, Wisconsin, the son of William Joseph and Anna Marie (Techel) Jones. He served 3 1/2 years in Company C 517th Paratroop Infantry during WWII. Upon returning from the war, George married Eleanor D. McQuade in 1950 and together they raised three daughters and a son. George was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, and daughter Mary. George is survived by his two daughters: Cindy (Richard) Newfield of Georgia and Julie (Bill) Ginsler of North Carolina, and son: Jay Jones of New Jersey, and eight grandchildren. George enjoyed playing golf, swimming, watching sports on TV and an occasional game of blackjack. We will all miss his kind heart and laughter. The family will receive friends for a Celebration of George's Life on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 for 5:30-7:30PM at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, WI, with Military Honors to be held at 7PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to your local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
