Obituary of Bernice Ann Mickelson

Cambridge - Bernice A. �Hannah� Mickelson passed away on May 24, 2014 at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on October 15, 1926 in Cambridge, WI, the daughter of Neal and Anna (Bogenschneider) Smithback. Bernice graduated from Cambridge High School in 1945. She worked for Rennebohm Drug Store in Madison after high school. She married Stanley Mickelson on May 8, 1946. Together they raised their children on their family farm. Stanley predeceased her in 1993. Bernice was a wonderful cook and loved making new recipes for her family to try as well as making the family favorites only she could cook and bake. She also enjoyed watching the Packers, doing crossword puzzles, playing her organ and spending time with her family along with sharing her wisdom, unique outlook on life and sense of humor with all. Bernice is survived by many who loved her and cared for her; daughter, Tari (Paul) Wolff, Texas; son, Randy (April) Mickelson and their children Patrick and Alison, Cambridge; son, Scott (Julie) Mickelson and their children Hannah (Jeremy Thorson), Maggie, Sarah and Sam, Cambridge; special friend, Tony Kubina and his children Chris (Dino Ante) Foreman and Chuck Kubina, and their children.�� She is further survived by her brother, Al Smithback, her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings, Dorothy Shaughnessy, Marion Miyagawa, Genevieve Buye, Lucille Buye, Jon Smithback, Eugene Smithback and Ned Smithback. Special thanks to Dr. Mike Koltz, the staffs of the ICU at St. Mary�s Hospital and Nazareth House and our family and friends who have helped us through the time of her illness. A private funeral service was held on May 29, 2014 at Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge with Pastor Richard Dowling presiding.
