Obituary of Doris Amy Bilstad

Doris Amy Bilstad (nee Swain) born April 18, 1927 in Christiana Township, Dane County, Wisconsin to Amelia (Engelstad) and Anton Swain died on Sunday, June 29, 2014, in Madison, Wisconsin at age 87. Doris was the youngest of eight children and lived the majority of her life in Cambridge. Most recently, she lived in Madison to be closer to her son. She is survived by her daughter Gail (Gerry) Hebert of Bala CynWyd, Pennsylvania and her son Brian (Susanne) Bilstad of Madison, Wisconsin. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rachel (Andrew) Kenis, Josh Seligman and Aaron (Ayako) Seligman, Grant, Brady and Tanner Bilstad, and Lukas and Casey Krause and four great-grandchildren, Emma and Sara Seligman and Hazel and Maxwell Kenis. Doris is also survived by her brother Delbert Swain of Cambridge, and sister-in-law Shirley Christianson, brothers-in-law Ken (Theresa) Bilstad, and Tom Bilstad and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Amy Bilstad Krause and infant son Bradley Bilstad, as well as her brothers Fredrick, Edwin, Arthur, John, and Raymond Swain and sister Lila Nelson. Doris worked at Melster's Candies for several years. After retiring, she volunteered at the Cambridge Library and enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching and solving cross-word puzzles. Doris was a member of the Oakland-Cambridge Presbyterian Church and participated for many years and was a long-time treasurer in Hope Circle. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Park Street, Cambridge, WI with Rev. Scott Marrese-Wheeler officiating. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Town of Oakland, WI. Friends may call after 9AM on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the funeral home until the time of the services.
