Obituary of Joan Helen Heinen

Joan Helen (Coder) Heinen, age 83, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at her home. Joan was born in Nebraska on June 29, 1931, the daughter of Howard Stanley and Eleanore Helen (Jorgenson) Coder. She graduated from high school in Nebraska. On February 14, 1951, Joan married Walter Heinen. Walter preceded her in death on September 15, 1992. Joan and Walter farmed in the Town of Oakland, Wisconsin. She enjoyed working on the farm and gardening in her flowers beds. In her spare time she painted, worked with stained glass, and quilted. Joan was a member of the East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, Cambridge, WI. Surviving are: Four Daughters: Linda (Gordon) Gottschalk, Cambridge, WI, Kelly (Ronald) Gordee, Argyle, WI, Kathy Heinen, Oshkosh, WI, and Lisa (Joseph Brown) Heinen, Milton, WI, Nine Grandchildren: Sara, Matthew, Michael, Naomi, Alicia, Ryan, Teegan, Darcy, and Mina, Five Great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Ellie, William. Ava, and Maddison, Brother:Roger Hood, and Sister: Sandra Thompson. Joan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, a brother Donald, and sisters: Norma and Barbara. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Nitardy Funeral Homes Chapel, 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, WI. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Friends may call after 9AM on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the funeral home until the time of the services.
