Obituary of Arline Lucille Simdon

Arline Lucille (Fandrei) Simdon passed away at the Black Hawk Senior Residence on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. She was born August 31, 1918 in Fort Atkinson and was the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth (Schiefelbein) Fandrei. Arline was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran church and attended their grade school. She graduated from Fort Atkinson Senior High School in 1936. She always talked about her first job after graduating, which was selling tickets at the new Uptown Theater. She eloped with Carl Ponyicsanyi to Iowa on August 3, 1940. Carl was killed in action on May 1, 1945 on an island in the South Pacific. He also left behind a two year old son, Tom. Arline then went to work at First National Bank, now Premier Bank, where she met her second husband, Robert 0 Simdon Jr. They were married on December 4, 1947 so they could spend Christmas together with her son Tom. Together they had another son and daughter. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1986. Arline was a member of St. Paul's church and a former member of the Evening Altar Guild at St. Paul's. She liked to play all kinds of games, especially bridge and bingo. As a full time homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and knitting. She spent much of her time in the summer months with her family and friends at their cottage on Cloverleaf Lakes, near Embarrass Wisconsin. She has lived at the Black Hawk Senior Residence since February, 2005. She could not have asked for better care and the staff was her friends and "family", as well as her caregivers. She loved the cats that slept on her bed. Survivors include her son James (Jan) Simdon, daughter Cathy Mansavage and daughter-in-law, Kathy Ponyicsanyi. It also includes seven grandchildren, Debra (Shawn) Geary, Betsy (Rob) Stangel, Stephanie (Mason) Belzer, Martha (Brett) Ketterman, Alison (Chris) Wisch, Sara Mansavage and Michael (Rose) Mansavage and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Shirley Wehausen, brother-in-law Charles Blonien,�and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her son Thomas Ponyicsanyi, her son-in-law Thomas Mansavage and her sister Jean Blonien. A sister-in-law, Barbara Erdman and two brothers-in law, Arthur Erdman and Edgar Wehausen also preceded her. �We know that all things work together for good to those who love God� Romans 8:28 was Arline�s confirmation verse and Arline truly believed this. Funeral Services will be held at 12PM on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Paul�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 301 S. High Street, Fort Atkinson, WI with Rev. Paul Scharrer officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, WI. Friends may call after 10AM on Tuesday at the church until the time of the services.
