Obituary of David Thomas Garrett

David Thomas Garrett, Sr., 75, passed away on August 12, 2014 in his home with his loving family by his side. David was born February 4, 1939 in Wriston, West Virginia. On September 17, 1960 David married the love of his life, Janice Trewyn. David was a carpenter by trade but also enjoyed auctioneering and woodworking. He also spent time in the National Guard Reserve. He loved his family dearly, but treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his ability to make people laugh. He touched the hearts of everyone he met. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Janice and his children Lou Ann (Ed), David Jr. (Patti) and Dawn (Holly), his grandchildren Shane (Melissa), Heather, Logan, Abby and Caleb and his great-grandchildren Mason and Brody, his brothers Robert (Ruby) and Michael (Cathy) and one sister Betty (Lacy) Jamison and more than 100 nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his two daughters Debbie and Shawn, his parents Sidney and Jessie and his siblings Albert, Doris, Margaret, Daniel, Helen, Marvin, Mary, Mildred, Kay, Faye, Emma Jean, and Ruth. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at Noon. Friends and family are invited to join the family in celebrating David�s life at the American Legion in Fort Atkinson immediately following the service. The family sincerely requests memorials be made to Rainbow Hospice in lieu of flowers.
