Obituary of Doris McGraw

Doris McGraw, age 82, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Fairhaven in Whitewater, Wisconsin after a long illness. Doris was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on November 29, 1931, the daughter of Paul and Helen (Goede) Knudson. Doris attended St. Paul's Lutheran Parochial School for eight years. She graduated from Janesville High School with the Class of 1949. Upon graduation, Doris was employed as a secretary at the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. There she met her future husband, Arthur Garfield McGraw, a faculty member in the education department. They married in Janesville on November 28, 1952. They were blessed with 3 sons, Bruce, David, and Erik. Doris enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and traveling with her family. Doris is survived by her sons: Bruce (Kellie) of Keller, Texas, David (Stephanie) of Janesville, WI and Erik (Kathy) of Watauga, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers: James (Beverly) and Robert (Arlene) Knudson both of Janesville, WI, Her grandchildren: Mitchell McGraw, Brandon McGraw, and Kelsey McGraw; three great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Arthur Garfield McGraw on March 25, 1988. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 116 S. Church Street, Whitewater, WI with Pastor Jonathan Rossman officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Whitewater, WI. Visitation will be from 6-8PM on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb St., Whitewater, WI and after 10AM on Friday at the church until the time of the services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 116 S. Church St., Whitewater, WI or to the Whitewater Food Pantry. "Rest in Peace, Mom."
