Obituary of Merrilyn Norma Britzke

Merrilyn Norma Britzke, age 71, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Alden Estates in Jefferson, Wisconsin surrounded by her family. Merrilyn was born in Madison, Wisconsin on March 26, 1943 the daughter of John and Norma (Damuth) Monogue. Following graduation, she attended Patricia Stevens Finishing School, UW-Whitewater, and Cardinal Stritch College. Merrilyn began working at Wisconsin Telephone Company in 1968 and she retired as a corporate trainer for AT & T in 1999. Merrilyn was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. She was also active in Campfire Girls and 4H as a member and later served on their governing boards. Merrilyn was happiest when she was doing for others such as volunteer at the Rock River Free Clinic, Fort Atkinson Food Pantry, and St. Vincent de Paul. She had been a member of the AT& T Pioneers since 1968, serving as an officer at all levels, including President for all state (8K members) retirees from 2010-2012. Merrilyn was also an avid sports enthusiast; particularly the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. Surviving are: Her Children: Kelly (Scott) Jacobson, Becky (Gerald Stevenson) Britzke, and John (Bridget) Britzke, all of Fort Atkinson, WI, Grandchildren: Rachel Stevenson, Tyler Stevenson, Hailee Jacobson, Blake Britzke, and Carli Britzke, Brother: Vaughn Monogue, Muskego, WI, and the father of her children: Roger Britzke. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Merrilyn was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Todd Britzke, and sister-in-law Sue Peterson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd, Fort Atkinson, WI with Father Brian Wilk celebrating. Friends may call after 10AM on Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church until the time of the Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, WI, The Fort Atkinson Food Pantry, or to Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson, WI.
