Obituary of Eugene Frank Welter

Eugene (Nick) Welter, 76, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at Mercy Hospital SCU in Janesville. He was born in Watertown on March 22, 1938, the son of Emery Frank and Mabelle (Woelffer) Welter. He was united in marriage to his lovely and devoted wife Patricia Haffelder on February 8, 1964. Eugene graduated from Jefferson High School. He served in the National Guards. He retired from General Motors in Janesville after 34 years and also retired from Sears. He especially loved time spent with his family and his retirement in Florida with his wife. He enjoyed gardening and was most proud of growing over 250 pounds of bananas. Eugene is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Welter; his children Rob (Deanna) of Edgerton and Gina (Dan) Courtier of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren Alec Courtier of Fort Atkinson and Marhysa Welter of Edgerton; two brothers, Jon Welter (Sally) of Angola, IN, David Welter (Carol) of Jefferson; one sister, Margaret Heth (Roger) of Arizona City, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Per Eugene and Patricia�s wishes a private family gathering will be held at a later date. Nitardy Funeral Home and Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson are assisting the family. A special thank you to the health care providers at Mercy Hospital, the emergency room staff, SCU staff, Dr. Shahid Shekhani, PA Amanda and all the great RNs that assisted with chemotherapy treatment.
