Obituary of Bill Niesen

FORTATKINSON Bill Niesen, 47, of FortAtkinson passed away on November 10, 2014 at Rainbow Hospice. Bill was born on April 7, 1967. He was adopted and raised by Harold M. and Helen A. Niesen. Bill attended school in Madison and received his diploma from FortHigh School in 1988. For the past 26 years Bill worked at Opportunities Inc. and most recently in the ADS program. He will be deeply missed by his sister, guardian and care giver of 31 years, Harriet (Greg Misfeldt) Scherer, Fort Atkinson; Helane (Curtis) Brenner, Lampe MO; brother Harold Niesen, Santa Cruz CA; Dennis (JoAnne Brandt), Sheboygan WI. He was Uncle Bill to Chris Scherer, Jennifer Hardy, Michelle Henley, David Van Der Steen, Steven Van Der Steen, Nick Niesen; and great uncle to several great nieces and nephews. Bill was preceeded by his parents Harold and Helen Niesen. It is commonly known that Bill loved pop, popcorn, McDonalds, fire trucks, hot dogs, cheese and M & Ms. Some lesser known facts about Mr. Bill included that he liked to start his day clapping to If Youre Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands. He had over 70 fire trucks or emergency vehicles in his collection and would watch for the fire department doors to open. Bill always used the sign baby for his nephew, Chris. He was an avid fan of any sport Chris, participated in. Bill could be an imp. He pulled the fire alarm in high school and stuffed paper toweling in the toilet causing it to overflow. His favorite exercise was sitting on the floor next to the exercise bike pushing the pedals to make us think he was really exercising. Bill loved to help in the kitchen both in ADS and at home. He enjoyed shopping but mostly shopped to get M & Ms. Bill loved to tattle on everyone. For someone that could not talk, Bill had a way of making his wants known. Bills life would not be complete without mentioning a debt of gratitude to the Fort Fire Department and Captain Reel; Opportunities Inc. for helping Bill everyday to enjoy life with his friends; St. Joes and his special pew buddy, Steve Benson; Dr. Laura Koenig, Rainbow Hospice and all its angels. Bill loved to laugh and he made us smile all the time. Bill leaves behind a void in his own quiet and sometimes not so quiet way. Let us remember Bill at a celebration of his life and visitation at Nitardy Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 4-8 P.M.
