Obituary of Paul V. Kohman

Paul V. Kohman, age 86, of Cambridge, WI, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014, with his wife by his side. Paul was born on March 14, 1928 at the family home in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota to William H. and Olivia M. (Weinzerl) Kohman. Paul attended St. Bonifacius Catholic School thru the 8th grade, then graduated from Mound High School, Mound, MN�at the age of 17. On January 10, 1946 he enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Snelling, MN and was attached to the Panama Canal Department and was sent to California. After his service in the US Army, he enlisted with the United States Army Air Corp. and served in Alaska, where they were assigned to build roads which were also used as landing strips. He was separated from the service at Truax Field in Madison, WI in 1952. He worked in construction for the next decade, which brought him to Jefferson, WI where he met his soon to be wife, Rose. Paul married Rose Marie Probst on April 1, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa. The couple had their marriage blessed in June 1960 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Monticello, MN. In the fall of 1960, they moved to Cambridge, WI where they spent the next 54 years. Paul was employed as a heavy equipment operator and a licensed dynamite blaster. He was later employed at Crepaco in Lake Mills for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing , and working in his yard. He is survived by his wife; Rose Kohman, Cambridge, WI, Two daughters: Jacquelyn (Dale) Kutz, Jefferson, WI, and Stephanie (Tim) McCarthy, Evansville, WI, Grandchildren: Thomas (Paris Knox) Kutz, Paul (Amanda Schultz) Kutz,�Olivia McCarthy, and Great-grandson: Chase Kutz, Two sisters: Mary Angela (Stan) Giesen and Lois Brose, and Three brothers: John (Delores) Kohman, Father Thomas Kohman, and Edward (Agnes) Kohman. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two bothers: Robert and Gerald Kohman, and a nephew Donald Kohman. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Jefferson, WI. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service at the church. Inurnment will follow the service at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery, Jefferson, WI Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donating to the family for a church fund, which will be given to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in a memorial honoring Paul. The Nitardy Funeral Home, Cambridge, WI is assisting the family.
