Obituary of Dorothy H. Ambrose

Dorothy H. Ambrose, 94, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Alden Estates of Jefferson. Dorothy was born November 7, 1920 in Watertown, the daughter of Henry F. and Clara E. (Roch) Pitterle. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1938 and worked for Watertown Egg and Produce until her marriage to Elmer Ambrose on September 2, 1950. The couple lived in Johnson Creek until 1966 when they moved to Fort Atkinson. Dorothy was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Fort Atkinson where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and Altar Society for almost 50 years, and where she served as an officer. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, needlework, baking, and gardening. She also liked spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Elmer Ambrose; one sister Eleanor Ambrose; two daughters, Carol Ambrose and Diane Ambrose; one son, David Ambrose (Bethann); four grandchildren, Jeremie Conkle, Jennifer Brawders (Jason), Kailey Ambrose and Christopher Ambrose; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Brawders, Jesse Brawders and Dominic Conkle; and various nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gertrude Pitterle; and a brother-in-law, Heron Ambrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will held at 11:30AM on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1660 Endl Blvd, Fort Atkinson, WI with Father Brian Wilk celebrating. Visitation will be at Nitardy Funeral Home, 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, WI on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4pm to 7 pm. with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. Also, visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Church from 10:30AM until the time of the mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School in Dorothy�s name or to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Alden Estates of Jefferson and Rainbow Hospice for their kind and exceptional care.
