Obituary of Audrey Lee Grunewald

Audrey "Punkey" Lee (Goeglein) Grunewald, age 74, of Deerfield, WI, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at home surrounded by loved ones. Punkey was welcomed into the world in Watertown, Wisconsin on August 6, 1940, the daughter of Paul and Jeanne (Beale) Goeglein Sr. She attended Madison Vocational and Adult School for Practical Nursing and graduated on September 7, 1959. She worked as a practical nurse caring for others at Alverno in Jefferson, the Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital, and several nursing homes in Jefferson, Richland Center, and Muscoda. On February 4, 1961, Punkey married Merlin E. Grunewald at the Fargo Mansion in Lake Mills, WI. Punkey was an avid Packer and Badger fan. She enjoyed knitting, fishing and having a beer on her deck with family and friends. Surviving are: Her children: Jeanne (Jeff) Vollmer and Gerald (Sara) Grunewald, Grandchildren: Damion (Cindy) Plymesser, Cathleen Jermaine, and Stefani Grunewald, Four Great-Grandchildren, Siblings: Paula (David) Marsden, Karen (Ken) Wolff, and Paul (Meghan) Goeglein Jr. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends. Punkey was preceded in death by her husband Merlin Grunewald, her father Paul Goeglein Sr. and her mother Jeanne Ross. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Rainbow Hospice Care for the wonderful care and support they provided for Punkey and her family in her last months. A Memorial Visitation will be held 4PM - 6PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Nitardy Funeral Home, 208 N. Park Street, Cambridge, WI. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the family for donations to Punkey�s desired foundations.
