Obituary of Paul William Breitsprecher

Paul William Breitsprecher, age 89 of Fort Atkinson WI passed away on Tuesday January 20 2015 at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Facility in Johnson Creek, WI after a long illness. Paul was born in Chicago IL on April 11, 1925 the son of William Leonard and Mabel (Coles) Breitsprecher. Paul graduated from Steinmetz High School and attended the Illinois Institute of Technology. He received a BA degree in Education and a MA in Theater from Northwestern University, and later a Master's Degree in Library Science from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Paul worked as a Librarian for the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. He served his country in the US Navy as a radio technician first class from June 1943-February 1945. While living in Chicago and working at Rotary International he met his wife of 60 years, Nancy Atkinson. They were married December 27 1954 in Portage, WI and began raising their family and settled in Fort Atkinson. Paul's love of theater led him to be very involved in productions at both the UW Whitewater and Fort Community Theater, appearing in many roles large and small. His other passions were railroads and trains, ships, music and the arts, and Northwestern football. He was an avid reader and had a vast store of knowledge having been a reference librarian tor many years. An Anglophile due to his mother's English heritage, he enjoyed all things British. Paul and Nancy were able to travel extensively after they raised their family. Train trips were especially enjoyed. His loving family includes his wife Nancy, 6 children: Mary (Robert) Preston, Fort Atkinson WI, Margaret Sue (Robert) Schueler, Fort Atkinson WI, William P. Breitsprecher, Milwaukee WI, Thomas A. Breitsprecher, Chicago IL, Nancy E. (Eric) Wesson, Greenville, TX, and Katy T. (Tom) Reid, Oberlin. OH, Grandchildren- Evan (Haley Johnson) Preston, Shadrack (Linda) Schueler, Jordan (Erica) Schueler, Staria Schueler, Eric (Mary) Wesson, Elizabeth Wesson, Samuel Wesson, Susanna Wesson, Amelia Reid, Miriam Reid and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 24 at 3 pm at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, Fort Atkinson WI with Rev. Delisa Buckingham-Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 at the funeral home until time of services. Burial will be at a later date. "All Aboard" Weary Pilgrim, Welcome Home
