Obituary of Steven Paul Voigt

On Tuesday, April 28, 2015 the LORD called Steven Paul Voigt to his heavenly home. Steve was born July 2, 1957 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to parents Oliver Earl and Ione Louise (Kolb) Voigt. He grew up with his brother Vernon Victor Voigt and Karen Louise (Voigt) Hinz. He graduated from Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 1975 and Dr. Martin Luther College in 1980. He married the love of his life Karen Ann Luckwaldt on December 29, 1984, in Menomonee, Wisconsin. They celebrated their 30th anniversary this past year and had a role-model Christian marriage. Steve and Karen were blessed with four children; Jacklyn (29), Michelle (27), Scott (25) and Heidi (21), and one grandson, Owen (4) who was the apple of his eye. Steve was a devoted family man who put his family first. He was proud of their many accomplishments and especially proud of the love for their Savior. In December Steve was diagnosed with cancer. His body survived four surgeries, five weeks of chemo, and six weeks of radiation. He finished his last treatment on April 27th. A day later God in his infinite wisdom decided to glorify his body. Steve loved listening to music. Whether driving in the car or working on his laptop at home, Christian music could always be heard. After college, Steve was a principal of a grade school in Lomira, Wisconsin. He transitioned careers working ten years at EDS in Michigan for the IT department. His true passion came working at Harley Davidson in Milwaukee for close to twenty years as a computer consultant. He is survived by his wife Karen, children Jacklyn Rynish, Michelle Luckmann (Chris), Scott (Morgan), Heidi, and grandson Owen Rynish; Mother Ione (Kolb), Brother Vern (Robin) Voigt, Sister Karen (Mike) Hinz. He is preceded in death by his Father Oliver Voigt and son-in-law Matthew Rynish. Steve was very grateful and uplifted by the cards and notes of encouragement friends and relatives sent. Visitation will be on Friday, May 1st from 4-7pm at Nitardy Funeral Home, 1008 Madison Avenue in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at noon at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 301 South High Street, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin with a visitation starting at 11:00am.
