Obituary of Brandon Kelly Fitzgerald

SSG Brandon Kelly Fitzgerald passed away June 6, 2015. He was born May 8, 1977 in Lindsay, CA to Elaine and Albert (Bert) Fitzgerald. Brandon joined the U.S. Army in November of 1998 as a 19D Calvary Scout. His tours of duty included Fort Knox, Germany and Fort Carson as well as a deployments to Kosovo and two combat tours in Iraq. SSG Fitzgerald earned numerous awards and achievements during his time of service to include the Combat Action Badge, Bronze Star, 2 Army Accommodation Medals w/ Valor, 5 Army Accommodation Medals, Valorous Unit Award, Army Achievement Medal, 3 Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global war on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, 3 Overseas Ribbons, and National Defense Medal. His leadership and ability was always considered to be the tip of the spear by his leaders and peers. Brandon also enjoyed motocross, fishing with his three sons, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Brandon leaves behind his wife Nikki Fitzgerald, Three sons Bodi, Remi, and Quinn. His mother Elaine Fitzgerald, sisters Kerri Vera, Kim and Dennis Kerwood, nieces and nephews Brandon Wade, Cade, Ashlee, Jacob, and Gabe. In-laws Mary and Ahren Kravik, Scott Thayer, Terry and Jean Rammey, Ben and Jenny Thayer, Katie and DJ Gerlock, best friend and battle buddy Glenn Brink, plus countless more friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father Bert Fitzgerald and grandmother Ana Goodgion. There will be a viewing held at Nitardy Funeral Home in Cambridge, WI on Wednesday, June 10 from 3-7pm. Services and military honors will take place at 11am on Thursday, June 11 at Lake Ripley Cemetery followed by a celebration of life to be held at Christiana Town Hall with snacks and drinks. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up to help Brandon's family in their time of need since Brandon was the sole financial provider for his family.
