Obituary of William A. Plechaty

WILLIAM WILLIE PLECHATY William Willie Plechaty, 74, of Fort Atkinson, departed for his Heavenly Home on Thursday, June 18, 2015, following a brief illness. He passed away at the Rainbow Hospice facility in Johnson Creek. Willie was born on December 11, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ben Fred and Lillian (Nowicki) Plechaty. He grew up on the family farm south of Fort Atkinson. Willie attended area grade schools and graduated from the Fort Atkinson High School in 1959. He served in the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969. Known as a hardworking and energetic fellow who always was willing to lend a helping hand, Willie demonstrated his strong Christian faith through both word and deed, gaining many friends along the way. It was when Willie was introduced to Anna Louise Langholff , that he knew he had found the love of his life. The two were married on December 2, 1967, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Together, they raised two sons, Ben and Wayne. Willie was employed for 31 years by the City of Fort Atkinson Public Works Department, working as crew leader for the street department. Always on the go, he loved spending time with family and friends, working in his large garden, driving around in his little tractor and studying his Bible. He especially reveled in his role as father and grandfather, speaking with great pride of the latest exploits and accomplishments of his sons and grandchildren. Blessed with musical ability, in his younger years he formed Little Willies Polka Band, and throughout his life, he delighted friends and family with his lively accordion music. In the years their sons were growing up, the family spent many happy summers camping at Devils Lake in Baraboo. Another source of joy for both Willie and Anna, was getting their motor home ready to hit the road and heading for points across the country. They loved visiting the homes of their sons and other family members. Surviving Willie are his wife, Anna; sons Ben of Kingman, AZ, and Wayne (Lori) of Windsor, CO, and their children, Sadie and Mick; brother, Edward Plechaty; sister, Josie Williams; sister and brother-in-law Lynette and Jerry Fredgren and their son, Brian; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Willie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph Plechaty. Funeral services will be held at the Nitardy Funeral Homes Chapel, 1008 Madison Avenue, Fort Atkinson, on Tuesday, June 23, at 11 a.m. A private inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson.
