Obituary of Paul V. Thompson

Paul V. Thompson On the morning of August 26, 2015, Paul V. Thompson passed away peacefully at Fort Memorial Hospital. Paul was 83 years old. � Paul was born in Vernon County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Olaf and Minnie Thompson. Paul lived and attended school in the Viroqua area. Paul and June dated for a year in 1953, but it was not yet their time to be together. He worked at the tobacco warehouse in Viroqua. Paul later married Beatrice Geddes, but they later divorced. They lived in the Kenosha and were blessed with a daughter, Kathy. Paul worked as an overhead crane operator for 37 years for the company once known as The American Brass Company. He retired in 1993 and had worked part time for a while also. Paul and June met again after 35 years apart at a function back in Vernon County. This was their time. Paul and June were married in Las Vegas and spent 25 happy years together. They relocated to Fort Atkinson, WI and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church. Paul was a league bowler and enjoyed dancing with June. He was a member of the Wisconsin Polka Boosters Club for some time. Paul was always ready to lend a helping hand by taking care of lawn mowing and snow removal for several neighbors until his Parkinson�s Disease no longer allowed it. Paul cherished spending time with family and friends especially at family reunions and Christmas parties. His enjoyed his talking and singing toy collections and loved to share that laughter with loved ones. Paul was a loving, kind-hearted man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, Alvin Thompson and Milford Thompson; and two sisters, Mildred Bobar and Lillian Nelson. Paul is survived by his wife, June Thompson; daughter, Kathy Thompson of Buffalo, NY; step-daughter Kathy (Cal) Beecher of Madison; step-son, Randy (Marcy) Burik of Madison; sisters Ruth Skrede of Beloit and Helen (Marvin) of Westby; grandchildren, Lenny Thomas of Warrens, Jamie Thomas of Platteville, and Nicole Thomas of Milwaukee; step-grandchildren, Heather Beecher, Heath Beecher, and Hillary (Zach) Blair, all of Madison; along with many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and step-grandchildren. A celebration of Paul�s life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015. Services will take place at the Nitardy Funeral Home at 1008 Madison Avenue in Fort Atkinson.�� The visitation will be from 10:30 until the start of the memorial service at 12:00. The funeral procession will go to Evergreen Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the VFW.
