My favorite memories of Herb are from the week we spent together on Edisto Island off the coast of South Carolina. We were "marooned" that week in February a few years ago while our wives were enjoying a "girls week away" with a couple of Joan's (my late wife) siblings (Aunt Donna's nieces).
Herd and I enjoyed dinner at a different restaurant every evening, and found a favorite breakfast cafe where I believe we sampled their entire breakfast menu those 7 days. And during the day we would slowly walk the beach looking for sand dollars, sharks' teeth and various sea shells/fossils that appeared since the previous day's outing. He would describe each, some in great detail. But, a full week away from our dear wives and, as I remember, we were ready to part company.
My sincere sympathy to Donna & Family.

Uncle Herbie, you will be missed. We loved the times we spent in FL with you and Aunt Donna. I didn't think there was another person alive that could find a Dairy Queen faster than me...and then there was you!!! Until we meet again. Love you so much. Linda and Bill

Donna, Mark, Jag and family, so sorry to hear of Herb's passing. What a great guy (even when he kicked me out of the bowling alley when I was in High School (though I deserved it)). I always enjoyed running into him over the years and he always took the time to share a few words with me. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Ron & Kay Prochnow
