Obituary of Vernon Lester Koch

Vernon Lester Koch, age 78, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Alden Estates of Countryside in Jefferson, Wisconsin of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Vernon was born in Whitewater, Wisconsin on January 26, 1937, the son of Loren Kenneth and Evora May (Blakely) Koch. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1954. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from Oct. 14, 1955 until April 13, 1960. Vernon worked various jobs, but most recently he had owned his own milk truck route. Vernon served as a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Helenville Fire Department. Surviving are: His Children: Diane Bergeman, Sharon Rhiner, Kris (Dale) Arneson, and Deb Haugen, Grandchildren: Travis and Brett Bergeman, Samantha (Tyler) Rhiner, John Rhiner, Steve Sackmaster, and Zachary and Austin Haugen, Two brothers: Allen Koch and Stanley (Joan) Koch, Three sisters: Kathy Flood, Dorothy Koch, and Linda (Richard) Koch and sister-in-law: JoAnn Koch. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Eugene and Don Koch, sister-in-law Darlene Koch, and brother-in-law Bruce Flood. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the Nitardy Funeral Homes Chapel, 1008 Madison Ave., Fort Atkinson, WI with Rainbow Hospice Chaplain Sister Shannon Finger officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery, Town of Hebron, Wisconsin. Visitation will be after 9:00AM on Saturday at the Nitardy Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, WI until the time of the services.
