Obituary of Joanne E. Cushman

Joanne E. Cushman (nee Weckler), 79, formally of Jefferson, passed away at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital�on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born June 21, 1936 in Fort Atkinson, WI to George and Eleanor (Brounty) Weckler.� Joanne grew up on the family farm in Oakland Township, went to school at Oakland Center School, graduated high school in Fort Atkinson, and continued her education at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing (Janesville) graduating with her RN degree. On December 19, 1964 Joanne married William L. Cushman.� She moved to his family farm outside Hebron, WI.� After the birth of their son, Lee in 1968, Joanne left nursing to stay at home and help with farming. Joanne was a lifelong member of St. John�s Community Church as well as a member of Hebron United Methodist Church in her later years.� She was a former member of Eastern Star, enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, and delighted in being a part of her grandson�s lives. She is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Bill; son, Lee (Shannon) Cushman of Whitewater, grandsons James, Thomas, and David; sister-in-law Dawn Weckler of Fort Atkinson, and Aunt Lucille Draeger of Jefferson. Preceding her in death are her parents, sisters Katherine (Neil) Oestreich, Georgia Jean Weckler, brother LaVerne Weckler, and nephew Danny Oestreich. The visitation�will be�Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 from 9-11 a.m.�at Nitardy Funeral Home 550 N. Newcomb St.�Whitewater WI.� Followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m.�officiated by Rev. Karen Klatt. If desired, memorials may be made to The Shriner�s Dyslexia Program or to *Fairhaven Senior Living Facility (*specifically funds being raised to buy new transportation vehicles for disabled seniors)
